When around downed wires assume they are energized and stay away!!

First Responders stayed busy though out the day / evening yesterday and into this morning responding to numerous trees down, wires down, traffic accidents etc. during the storm.

Yesterday evening (Wednesday 9/28) West End Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a residence in our Foxfire response area for a report of a Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm

These alarms could be anything from a dead battery to an actual alarm. Fire engines from both the Foxfire and West End stations responded.

When we arrived, we used our gas monitors to test the air quality. Ultimately a faulty hose and connection were found on a stove. CO levels near the appliance were well above safe limits. Positive pressure fans were used to force clean air into the house and ... (Full Story)
