By Fire Chief Erik Stromberg
November 9, 2019

Firefighters from West End Fire and Rescue along with Firefighters from a number of other Moore County Fire Departments including Aberdeen Fire and Rescue, Eagle Springs Fire and Rescue, Eastwood Fire and Rescue, High Falls Fire and Rescue, Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue and firefighters from Richmond County Fire Departments Hoffman Fire and Rescue, East Rockingham Fire Department participated in a "Live Burn Training Exercise" at an acquired structure off of Hoffman Road in Foxfire Village.

Instructors from Sandhills Community College (Aberdeen Fire and Rescue / Southern Pines Fire and Rescue) led a number of "Live Burn" training exercises throughout the day. During the training exercises Paramedics from Moore County EMS closed monitored personnel ensuring that their vital signs were within safe limits.

Live-fire training in an acquired structure is probably the most difficult training atmosphere to control, which is why it must be the most closely supervised and monitored event any department undertakes; this will allow firefighters to gain valuable knowledge and practical experience while operating in a safe environment that closely resembles real life.

West End Fire and Rescue is very appreciative for the opportunity to host this incredible training event as we continue try train our members in a way that best prepares them for what they may encounter as Firefighters. Thank you to all that assisted with getting this training setup as well as all of those that participated in today's training. It takes an incredible amount of time and effort to conduct a training event such as this.

Incredible job by all involved!!
