A two-vehicle crash sent two paramedics to the hospital, and one person was airlifted to an area trauma center Thursday morning.

The collision involved a pickup truck and a Moore County EMS unit at the intersection of Carthage Road and Beulah Hill Church Road about 5 miles outside of Seven Lakes.

The driver of the pickup truck was unresponsive and life-flighted to UNC trauma center. His injuries are unknown at this time.

The two paramedics were taken by ambulance to Moore Regional Hospital for evaluation. They are expected to recover.

According to EMS Chief Grant Hunsucker, the EMS unit was not carrying a patient and was not responding to a call at the time of the accident.

Seven Lakes Fire Chief Chris King was on the scene.

“I have expressed great concern for a four-way stop sign at this intersection, and we have even had a petition signed,” said King. “The last accident at this location two weeks ago resulted in a fatality. We need a four-way stop.”

The exact cause of the accident is under investigation by the State Highway Patrol.

Responding to the scene were Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue, West End Fire and Rescue, Moore County EMS, UNC Air Care, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, N.C. Highway Patrol, Moore County Public Safety, and Rockwell Towing.
