Heat Stroke: Know the Difference! β˜€οΈ

As temps climb into the hundreds this week, it’s important to recognize the warning signs of heat-related illness. Here’s how to tell the difference:

πŸ”Έ Heat Exhaustion
βœ… Heavy sweating
βœ… Pale or clammy skin
βœ… Dizziness or fainting
βœ… Nausea or vomiting
βœ… Muscle cramps
βœ… Headache
βœ… Fast, weak pulse

➑️ What to do:
Move to a cooler place, loosen clothing, sip water, and apply cool, wet cloths.

🚨 Heat Stroke (EMERGENCY!)
❌ No sweating
❌ Red, hot, dry or damp skin
❌ Confusion or unconsciousness
❌ Strong, rapid pulse
❌ Body temp of 103°F or higher

➑️ What to do:
Call 911 immediately! While waiting, move the person to a cooler place and try to lower their body temp with cool cloths or a bath. Do NOT give them anything to drink.
