An early morning structure fire was reported Saturday at West Pine Middle School in West End.

Emergency responders were dispatched just after 8 :00 AM to the school on Archie Road off of NC Highway 211 with flames and smoke reportedly showing from the roof of a doublewide mobile classroom.

The firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in less than half of an hour, however the structure was still a total loss according to fire officials at the scene. Firefighters remained at the school for an extended amount of time Saturday morning working to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished.

The quick response from multiple fire departments prevented any damage from occurring to nearby classrooms standing only feet away from the burning building.

Responding to this fire were units with West End Fire & Rescue, Eagle Springs Fire Department, Seven Lakes Fire & Rescue, Eastwood Fire Department, Pinehurst Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County School Police, Moore County Sheriffs Department, Moore County Fire Marshals Office and officials with the Moore County Schools

The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of this report

Was wondering
1) how long does it take for those portables to burn
2) if our children were inside how would they have gotten out safely
