The driver of a passenger car escaped serious injury after a collision with a commercial truck between West End and Pinehurst Thursday morning during a downpour of windswept rain.

Emergency units were dispatched at 10:30 am to a reported vehicle accident with a passenger car overturned on NC Highway 211.

Responders arrived on the scene to find a collision between a commercial truck hauling a dumpster and a BMW passenger car with the car overturned on its rooftop. The drivers were able to get out of their vehicles and were not complaining of any injuries.

The commercial truck appeared to have sustained minimal damage in the accident.

One lane of NC Highway 211 in the eastbound direction was blocked to traffic for a brief period while the accident was investigated, and the vehicles removed from the scene.

Responding were units with West End Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
